Experimental study on mixture design of Reactive Powder Concreteby the theory of the most compact

Abstract
Based on the theory of the most compactof the raw materials, the basic mixture design of Reactive Powder Concrete (RPC) using local available raw materials was developed. The critical aspects of the RPC mixture design, including curing regime,water-to-binder ratio, additives and allowance coefficient, were deeply investigated through empirical study. The results showed that the heat curing time up to 3 days delivered the highest strength. The increase of water-to-binder ratio led to lower compressive strength but increasing the RPC liquidity. The application of defoamercan effectively improve the strength by compacting its microstructure. However,it is worth to note that the preferable content of deformer is about 0.8%.The optimal allowance coefficientwas determined to be 1.4 according to the present study. The highest compressive strength of RPC produced in this work was over 160MPa.
