Separation and identification of chemical constituents of petroleum ether extract from Euphorbia lactea

  • To study the chemical constituents of Euphorbia lactea,the aerial parts of this plant were extracted with 70% acetone and the constituents of the petroleum ether extract were separated and purified by silica gel column chromatography,ODS column chromatography,and gel LH-20 chromatography.Six compounds were identified on the basis of spectroscopic data as Euphorantin I (1),Jolkinolide E (2),3β-hydroxy-25-methyloxylanosta-8,23-diene (3),inoterpene B (4),3β-hydroxystigmast-5-en-7-one (5),6β-hydroxystigmast-4-en-3-one (6).All of them were firstly isolated from E.lactea.
