Analyse on the ozone distribution pattern and the relationship with typhoon process in the Pacific Northwest

  • The ozone distribution at North western Pacific Ocean was analysed based on the vertical ozone reanalysis data and total ozone column data derived from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts,by analyzing the ozone distribution of the isobaric troposphere in the North western Pacific Ocean.Based on HYSPLIT of NOAA Air Resources laboratory to track the typhoon's influence on the distribution of ozone, the activity of typhoon can modify the lower tropospheric ozone distribution, the updraft carried the low level air with less ozone concentration to the upper layers, causing the decrease of the ozone. The changes of total ozone column during the typhoon process of Megi and Fengshen around region are analyzed as a case study. The following conclusions indicate that the typhoon center adjacent area in total atmospheric column ozone is a low value area, the typhoon intensity index PDI and the value of the total atmospheric column ozone has a certain relationship in the development and mature of the typhoon.
