A research on degradation of Ponceau S via TeNRs biosynthesized by Meyerozyma guilliermondii to activate PMS

  • In this paper, tellurium nanorods (TeNRs) were synthesized by Meyerozyma guilliermondii to activate potassium peroxymonosulfate triple salt (PMS) to degrade Ponceau S, and characterized by ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer (UV−Vis), transmission Electron Microscope-Energy Spectrometer (TEM−EDS), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and Fourier Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The degradation effect of Ponceau S was studied. The results confirm that Ponceau S can be effectively degraded in the system of TeNRs + PMS + Ponceau S. A green synthesis of TeNRs and the mechanism of degradation of Ponceau S via TeNRs activated PMS have been proposed, which will provide new insights for environmental bioremediation and disposal of dye waste water.
