Study on tourism climate comfort in Yunnan Province based on entropy method

  • Based on the daily meteorological data of 125 meteorological observation stations in Yunnan Province over the past 30 years, two evaluation indicators were selected, including tourism climate index and holiday climate index. The entropy method was used to assign weights, and in various regions of Yunnan Province was obtained an evaluation model for integrated tourism climate index, based on which were analyzed the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics of tourism climate comfort in Yunnan Province. The results show that the climatic conditions are excellent for the development of tourism and vacation industry in Yunnan Province; there are long comfortable periods, and the four seasons are suitable for tourism and vacation. Meanwhile, the number of comfortable days shows a significant upward trend in the province except those in eastern Yunnan and central Yunnan. All the prefectures and cities of the province have fairly long tourism climate comfort periods throughout the year, except northeast Yunnan, and Diqing prefecture in northwest Yunnan. Chuxiong in central Yunnan and Dali in western Yunnan rank the highest, with the most comfortable days in spring and the fewest in the whole province in summer.
