A new method for removing salt-and-pepper noise from gray scale and color images

Different from conventional methods,it is proposed a new method for removing salt-and-pepper noise from gray scale and color images.First,simple but effective noise detectors are designed to identify pixels which are likely to be contaminated by noise.Then,if a pixel is detected as a corrupted one according to the detector,its neighboring image-pixel value is used to replaced it.The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms other conventional methods and recently proposed methods in reducing noise and retaining details.
