Abstract: Actinobacteria are one kind of very important microbial resources,which produce diverse pharmaceutical antibiotics and industrial enzymes.Since Actinobacterial lab was founded concurrently with Yunnan Institute of Microbiology,Yunnan University in 1980,it has undergone over three decades,but still has remained the same all along with the research focusing on Actinobacterial resource and utilization.It has become outstanding research group in the world with the efforts by several generations,and is now forming a provincial level innovative group with 15 young scientists,whom have owned Ph.D degree.This review will comprehensively introduce the origins and early history of Actinobacterial resource research in Yunnan University,analyse its present status,and also give prospectives for its future directions.
