Abstract:
The taxonomy, geographical distribution and biological characteristics of major strawberry viruses such as strawberry vein banding virus (SVBV), strawberry mottle virus (SMoV), strawberry crinkle virus (SCV), strawberry mild yellow edge virus (SMYEV) and strawberry latent ringspot virus (SLRSV) were summarized. The methods about virus detection, virus elimination, virus prevention and virus transmitting vectors were discussed. The detection methods include leaflet graft bioassay, electron microscope detection, serological detection and molecular biology detection, and the most commonly used method is molecular biology detection. Fungi, nematodes, thrips, whitefly and aphids may carry strawberry viruses and become virus transmitting vectors. Virus elimination methods such as high temperature treatment, chemical reagent treatment, detoxification of strawberry stem tip, heat treatment combined with shoot tip virus elimination and cryotherapy have been used. The prevention of viruses is to use virus-free seedling and more field management, to use anti-virus cultivars and to block vectors. In conclusion, a scientific knowledge basis for prevention of strawberry virus diseases was reviewed.
