Abstract:
The main features of the temperal-spatial distribution of the earthquake activities in Yunnan area since the 20th century are briefly analyzed.These features can serve as references for the seismologists to study the seismicity and the strong earthquake risk in Yunnan.Any breakthrough in the seismological field relies on the innovation of the earthquake-monitoring techniques,especially the application of the techniques of digital seismic observation.Further,the development of the broadband digital seismograph networks abroad and the regional digital telemetric seismic network in Yunnan,China is sketched.So far,the seismic networks at home and abroad have recorded a great number of significant earthquake events.The seismic data,accumulated for quite a long period,have greatly expanded the field for the theoretical innovation and technological application of the seismology,so they are regarded as precious treasures for the earth science,as well as the corner stone for the earth scientists including seismologists to conduct an intensive study of the physical process of the earthquake and the inner structure of the Earth.
