Abstract: A method independent of the orientation information is presented based on gray level similarity of a local area and its sub-samplings,computing the minimum size of the sampling with the grey level similarity,and eventually,the ridge frequency related the sampling size is obtained.The algorism can be used to all the region of the fingerprint image with good performance,especially to non-regular orientation areas.
