Abstract:
Based on the NCEP reanalysis data,Doppler radar data in Kunming and intensive network of automatic weather station, the mesoscale characteristics of thunderstorm gale event occurred in Kunming on 19 April 2016 has been analyzed. The results show that the thunderstorm gale event was caused by weak southern branch wave and shear line with high-low layer jet coupling, and momentum transmission, unstable stratification and the surface convergence line contributed to the development of the storm. This event was influenced by the squall line, the weak echo region behind squall line were quite clear, the velocity ambiguity, the large velocity area and convergence in the low level, divergence in the upper level ,“NiuYan” type structure, and deep midaltitude radial convergence (MARC) could be studied in indicating ground wind. The ground wind was closely related with the squall line, surface mesoscale convergence line and divergence, according to the surface convergence line, squall line could be warning early about an hour.
