Abstract:
Various separation techniques such as normal and adverse silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 gel column chramatography were used to investigate the chemical constituents from the leaves of
Syzygium brachyantherum. In result, ten compounds, including 3
β,23-O-isopropylidenyl-2
a,19
a-dihydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid (
1), hyptaic acid B (
2), corosolic acid (
3), friedelin (
4), friedelan-3
β-ol (
5), 3
β-hydroxy-5-glutinene (
6), daucosterol (
7), (7
R,8
S)-3,5'-dimethoxy-4',7-epoxy-8,3'-neolignane-5,9,9'-triol (
8), methyl gallate (
9) and
β-selinene (
10) were isolated and determined and their structures were identified by NMR spectroscopic data and comparison with values reported. Among them, compound
1 was a new ketal produced by
2 and acetone during isolation. All compounds were isolated from
S. brachyantherum for the first time.
