Abstract:
Pinus densata originated through natural hybridization between P.yunnanensis and P.tabulaeformis.The individual hybrid origin nature of P.densata among populations has been borne out.In present study, seeds harvested from eight representative populations distributed throughout its natural rang were germinated aiming to explore germination characteristics and compare population divergence under natural field conditions environment in putative parental species P.yunnanensis habitat. The results showed that the dynamic regularity of the germination percentage can be fitted by an S-shaped curve as slow-fast-slow and can be simulated with Logistic equations. The germination period was divided into 3 stages according to its germination percentage: initiation stage of seed germination, rapid stage of seed germination and later stage of seed germination. There were differences in germination time and germination number among populations. The beginning and end of the rapid stages for seed germination were 79 days and 1115 days respectively. The duration of the rapid germination stages were relatively stable. The germination percentages were 33.10%~49.94% and 52.12%~88.94% in the rapid stage and in the whole period among populations, respectively. The number of the seed germination in the rapid stage had high ratio compared to the whole period, and the ratios were 47.14%~66.40%.MK population located in the northeastern periphery of the P.densata range adjacent to the P.tabuliformis had early seedling emergence and high germination percentage followed by LX population.By contrast, the NY population had late seedling emergence and low germination percentage.According to regression analysis, germination percentage in rapid stage and in whole period was liner correlation, and the correlation coefficient was 0.7725.Extremely significant correlations were found between the smiulated values and the actual measured values of seed germination percentage, and the correlation coefficient was 0.9995.All results suggested that P.densata as a hybrid species was normal in seed germination in P.yunnanensis habitat. The seed germination and population divergence characteristics seem to be related to the multiple hybrid origin and complex genetic background.
