Abstract:
The chemical constituents of the ethyl acetate fraction of
Hypericum kouytchense Lévl were isolated and purified by silica gel column chromatography (CC), HP-20 macroporous resin CC, Sephadex LH-20 CC, semipreparative high performance liquid chromatography, and other separation methods. Seventeen compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate fraction of
H. kouytchense. By using NMR, MS, and other modern spectral techniques, the structures of the compounds were identified as friedelin (
1 ), betulinic acid (
2 ), 3,4-dihydroxy-2-methoxy-xanthone (
3 ), 1,3-dihydroxy-2-methoxy-xanthone (
4 ), 1,3-dihydroxy-5-methoxy-xanthone (
5 ), 1,5-dihydroxy-6,7-dimethoxyxanthone (
6 ), 2,3-dimethoxyxanthone (
7 ), cadensin D (
8 ), subalatin (
9) , kielcorin (
10 ), isojacareubin (
11 ), toxyloxanthone B (
12 ), 2-deprenylrheediaxanthone B (
13 ), 1,7-dihydroxyxanthone (
14 ), 3-hydroxy-1,4,7-trimethoxydibenzofuran (
15 ), ethyl caffeate (
16 ), and benzoic acid (
17 ). Compounds
1-13 and compounds
15-17 were isolated from
H. kouytchense for the first time.
