Study on the Dynamic Evolution of Forest Landscape Pattern in Pu'er City, China Based on MSPA and Forest Fragmentation

Abstract: Revealing the dynamic characteristics of forest landscapes in Pu'er City holds significant importance for optimizing the distribution structure of regional forest resources, enhancing their protection and utilization efficiency, as well as for forest management and ecological planning. Leveraging high-precision forest cover maps, land use change patterns were deciphered using land use transfer matrices. Furthermore, morphological spatial pattern analysis methods were applied to analyze the characteristics of forest landscapes in Pu'er City, while the results of forest fragmentation analyses were utilized to delve deeper into the dynamic evolution of the forest landscape pattern. The findings revealed the following: ①Forests are the predominant land use type in Pu'er City, with the forest area expanding from 79.45% in 2000 to 83.67% in 2020; ②The forest morphology in Pu'er City is primarily characterized by core areas, which have demonstrated a continuous increase in their proportion of the total forest area, rising from 76.26% in 2000 to 79.61% in 2020; ③The overall degree of forest fragmentation in Pu'er City is relatively low, with regions where forest area density exceeds 90% accounting for over 62% of the total forest area and exhibiting a consistently upward trend.
