Abstract:
In the co-existing environment of microbes and metals, microbes can use extracellular metals for substance and energy metabolism, which accelerates or inhibits the corrosion of metals. The influence of metal-microorganism interface electron transfer on metal corrosion is reviewed in this paper, especially the effects of metal oxides on the metabolism of microorganism, the mode of electron transfer between metal and microorganism interface and the mechanism of interaction on metal corrosion are focused, furthermore, the relationship between extracellular electron transfer and microbial metabolism of electrical microbial influenced corrosion is introduced.
